Sunset Roasters' first dark roast. Enjoy this remarkable coffee harvested by a women's collective in Colombia.
With your purchase today, you and Sunset Roasters support Asociación de Mujeres Cafeteras de Colombia (Association of Women Coffee Farmers of Colombia)—the first part of the coffee supply chain that eventually lands in your kitchen. The Association is located in the rural municipality of Colombia, located in the department (state) of Huila. The region overall is marked by high poverty and limited career opportunities. Women, younger and older alike, often seek employment as domestic workers in urban areas, which many times fragments the family unit. In 2014, hundreds of women came together to form The Association to return to their homes and demonstrate a new concept of leadership via farming. Business successes soon followed, with a domino effect of greater financial gains and more say at home and in the community. With the power of this farming collective, exporting these beans abroad provides better income for the women farmers who are able to reinvest in their land and push forward their families’ social mobility.
