Product Description
"The original painting sold during the Frida II Exhibit at Wonderland SF in 2017. Oil on panel, 16 in x 20 in, ornate gold frame. I was thrilled to have an opportunity to honor Frida Kahlo when asked to participate in this show by the owner and curator of Wonderland SF, Irene Hernandez-Feiks. Frida was known for her originality, tenacity and resilience. Lesser known, was she often seen in men’s clothing and other gender non-conforming attire. Although married to the famous Diego Rivera, a cis-gendered man, she was known to have romantic and sexual relationships with women as well. This portrait was created by studying many historical formal and candid photographs of her from the time. I purposefully combined the more feminine makeup and flower crown with Frida’s lesser known but very true record of donning masculine suits. She was a power player ahead of her time. The title, 'I Am the Person I Know Best' is from one of her quotes." —Lindsey Millikan, Artist
