San Francisco based artist Keith D. Stanley creates whimsical monster portraits that capture human moments using elements of the the real world and incorporating his imagination to create something fun to draw and fun to share. Like caricatures, Keith's monster portraits show a true likeness even when abstracted through his cartoonish illustrative style. Often the portraits aren't based on anyone specific but they still give you the sense you could be friends with the “monster” if you met them on the street.
Stylistically influenced by Jim Henson (the Muppets, Sesame Street) and Jamie Hewlett (Gorillaz, Tank Girl), Keith creates monsters that jump off the page with personality, most obviously visible in his commissioned pieces where he recreates personality and style traits to "monster" the subjects.
Keith earned a BFA from University of Hartford and has shown many places in the Bay Area art scene since 2007.
